The object of the coverage study is to confirm, with full guarantees, that the terminal network radio frequency (RF) offer a data communication optimal in the entire area of operation required by the customer.

The best procedure to define the most appropriate locations for the AP, is to perform a test at the actual location and in similar conditions as possible to reality, in relation to the stored material, operating machinery, vehicles or transport elements operating on the premises.

For the realization of measurements it has followed the following procedure:

Those areas that, by its definition, are candidates to define a relatively isolated area from the point of view radioelectric identified. To do this, it keeps in mind that the walls and floors insulate in high RF signal 2.4Ghs. Also, the material stack and metal shelves are important to radiofrequency barriers.

The AP as a fixed point is at a high point in the area identified with the initial aim of covering the area with a single AP.

If we notice that the area is not covered with a good level of efficiency we try to relocate the AP, or otherwise the target area is reduced and another area is defined to cover with another AP repeating the whole process.

When two signals as a result of measurements with two different locations of AP are received at the same point is regarded as the highest valid measurement, thanks to the “roaming”, as previously mentioned.

During the whole process of measurement is taken that there is a continuous signal overlap, so that the terminals, especially if they move from one area to another, never lose synchronization permanently.

It is ensuring that the height is the maximum possible, especially if the ceiling coming obstacles, such as shelves or stacks. If there are no such obstacles and achieve maximum height difficult or expensive involves laying cable may find another point near the ceiling, such as a beam.

More important than the previous point is the condition that the antenna is not obstructed by objects that impede visibility of the area to cover. It is especially important if these obstacles are metallic. Remember that the antenna should be placed with the dipole oriented downward.

If the chosen location there is a device which can be radio transmitter (for example, internal mobile phone), even though the band is different in the chosen location and the broadband technology is highly immune to interference, it is advisable to drive away the one meter above the AP device. Of course, this is especially important, if we refer to devices that emit in the same band as other data transmission equipment or even a microwave.
